disappointed with Sirius install

I installed Sirius last night and am pretty disappointed with the quality from the Sirius unit to the Saab head unit.
Since my 1997 900SE doesn't have an aux audio input, I am using the FM Modulation antenna for broadcasting 88.1FM to the Saab unit. The problem is that it sounds flat like AM radio and has static!
I have read that I can tap into the output of the CD player with an audio switch that will allow me to override the CD signal with the Sirius output when the Sirius box is "on".... but this is lame. I don't like the idea of my CD player continuing to play while I am listening to Sirius. It just sounds like a lot of wear and tear.
I suppose that I could get a new Head unit, but the SID is cool. Any ideas about this? It seems to me the best way to go with Sirius is just to get it installed in the car through the head unit in the first place.
