Sorry I am not on the board as much as a few weeks ago. The indy felt that the symptoms were pointing to a bad AMM. He had a spare from a 94 900 (different number, but compatible) that he put in. It started right up the next day (today). He is letting me drive it around for a few days to see if our problem is solved. I hope so, but I am not certain. That is why I was waiting to post.
From his observation, it is something finiky. If it were a fuel pump, or many other "major" items, it would not perform so well once warmed up. Something fuel related that is managed by some sensor. He has seen another AMM that went in the same way ... cold start problems ... because this meter is telling the engine how much fuel to send to match the read air flow.
George M ... I will post again in a few days. One observation having it back today: the idle still flutters slightly when at idle. Do you have this issue?
By the way, it looks as if all this hard cranking over the past month has finally toasted my starter. It is still functional, but probably next week in -20 weather I will be under the car again.
