When the petal goes to the floor, the MC cup seals often are damages by going over parts of the MC bore that is not stroked where rust deposits can form. So that is a possibiltiy and whenever brake work is done, it is very important to never stroke the petal to the floor when advancing the pads or bleeding etc. A piece of 2X4 behind the petal to limit stroke when bleeding is prudent.
But if the petal holds all of the time the MC could be OK, but if it ever goes soft and goes to the floor and needs to be pumped up, replace or rebuild.
I do not recall a how-to post on MC replacement, but if you are faced with that, I can make some suggestions at that time.
If the front caliper tension springs are not installed or not installed right, that can make things feel wrong.
