Synthetic has been available for about 35 years now. I've been using it in my cars for over 26 years.
Yep, some engines have lasted 300,000 miles--but a whole lot more have not.
There are some synthetic blends on the market that are not as good as some of the non-synthetics. There has been an argument that since 20 percent or more of a Group I based engine oil is manufactured chemical additives and some products promoted as "synthetic blends" contain 20 percent of less of "synthetic" base stockd, then the case could be made that virtually any blended lube is a "synthetic blend".
Hey, it is your car, and you can use anything you want to. For me, I'll stick to the annual oil change with a superior product.
