Oils and greases are thick, that is all.

(When I was quite young, I put EP90 in a gear box, now that was interesting in really cold weather. I thought at that time that the recommended oil for the gearbox must be wrong.)

The cold engine is easy to stall and the fuel is not very volitile to say the least. Just needs to warm up. You using a 0Wx or 5Wx synthetic oil?

So adding a load to the engine stalled it out, that is simple enough.

Proper plugs, clean and gapped will help relative to not.

Fouling of the IAC might be a factor as well if the fouling limits the travel of the swing gate in the IAC.
