Anyone Ever Break a Head Bolt - Retorque?

I have a 1998 SET that I want to retorque the head bolts on. The car has 100k on the clock and I purchased 3 years ago with 57k on the car. My delemma is new head bolts or not? I have a very, very slight oil seap at the head joint on the driver's front side of the head below the old place for the distributor. My concern is I do not know if they have ever been retorqued. Do I wait for new head bolts or get it done this weekend(have new valve cover gasket in stock) and retorque the ones I have. I do not want to risk breaking off a head bolt but I relize a new bolt can be defective and break also in very rare cases. Do these bolts "stretch" to the point that if I am the second retorque on this car they could break?

I would very much appreciate any feedback I could get.
