I was going to post tghe other night when I first read this but then realized "He didn't say whether it was a 4 or 6 cylinder". I should have looked at your other posts to figure this out. I was only going to say that I just acquired a 95SE in the same condition for the same reason. This guy drove it until it was knocking badly. It idles well enough cold but will bind if idled to temp and shut down. New lower-end time. The filter responsible for the problem was in a Ziploc baggie on the floor. You don't need to worry about having tightened it having destroyed the evidence. It probably came off because it's the wrong filter (the 4-cyl one) and the thread isn't the same. They kind've bite and hold but invariably come loose. Their brand of filter and your slip showing what they installed are all the evidence you will need if this is what happened.
