Clutch won't fully disengage in morning.

Hey all, it's good to be back, I finally got 'net service in my apartment and it feels good. Anyway, my 95 900S is acting a little weird in the morning sometimes. I get in, push the clutch pedal to the floor, and start the car. She turns over slow, the car shudders, and I can't get it out of reverse. If I keep trying, it starts to smell like burning clutch. If I turn the car off, let the pedal out and back in, it starts normally and all is well. This has happened three times. It only happens on first start up. What the heck is that about? I'm thinking probably clutch cable, but has anyone else had this happen? Here in Bakersfield, it's not extremely cold in the AM, and when I leave for work it's usually about 40-45 and moist, if that has anything to do with it.
Thanks everyone, I'm glad to be back!
