Retorquing and head gasket issue. Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Fri, 11 Feb 2005 13:23:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello everyone.
1998 Saab 900 SETC
95,000 miles.
So according to my mechanic, I have an external coolant leak in the head gasket area. He said it should cost between $600 to $700. I've been reading past posts concerning the head gasket and retorquing. Is it even worth the attempt to retorque the cylinder bolts with 95,000 miles on my car? The bolts have not been retorqued.
I've had this car for 3 years and I love it a lot. But the constant repairs are really annoying. I'm afraid to tally up the total repair bills. I do a lot of preventive maintenance and I'm pretty vigilant with the scheduled service. It's diappointing that I've had so many problems with this car. I have a 1992 Jeep cherokee with 204,000 miles and I've never had any problems with it.
Thanks,
Dan
