Did it die like you just turned the key off? Meaning, did the dash lights, sid, etc. all go out, as if you just turne it off? Or was it just the engine that died? If like you were shutting the key off, huge possibility would be ignition switch (these have been known to have problems). If it did not die like that, then we need to look elsewhere (DIC, fuel pump others). The alternator dying would simply give you a "battery" light on the dash indicating that there way no charging taking place, then after a while it would die due to the battery being dead. Completely dying like this doesn't seem to be something as simple as TB cleaning, etc. Let us know what you find out... I am sure "real" experts will be on this board soon with some more checks for you.
