I think we have two issues at hand and I think that these two are not related. Disclaimer - I am not a mechanic. Take what I say with a fistful of salt.
Ok, don't know about the tensioner, that is, if it ticks then that is the sign. What I do know from reading the "tensioner" matter, from this BB and also from the 9-5 BB is that as a rule of thumb, I think it would be best to have that replaced at every 60k, an ounce of prevention. Do you have a record of the scheduled maint. done on your car as it relates to tensioner?
Anyway, try to clean the purge valve, if that does not help you then replace that valve. The ticking sound from my car used to bug me at first since I thought that sound was caused by the valves. Paranoia is a sign of good health!
I offer this response with the presumption that valves are making that noise. There was a discussion regarding synthetic oil. I think that your car will benefit from that switch. I used to use semi-synth when I used to have my Jeep and it made that mule a bit quieter. But that is your call should you switch. Do a BB search regarding "oil seepage," AutoRx, synthetic. I read a post from Eiron regarding AutoRx, before and after pictures were included. good luck!
