I asked for one old strap that was cut, and it looked like there was enough metal left to hold the tank, but once off, I would not put them back.
The shop that replaced my fuel pump earned their labor $$. I asked them to test the wiring, fuse, relay. Then remove the pump and bench test to determine motor was bad before replacing it.
The straps were rusted, and had to be cut. Saab parts could not be obtained within a day. Aftermarket straps turned out not to be a good fit. In the end, they welded the end of the old strap with the catch to the aftermarket strap.
There are also the fuel filler lines to be connected again etc. There is a good diagram on the EPC CD showing all the parts.
Saab p/n's:
4235040 "tension band" (strap), $32 Saab list, genuinesaab.com
7971922 "Nut" (with shoulder), $2.90 ea.
