Lots of wrong facts under this thread. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Thu, 24 Feb 2005 20:40:23 In Reply to: Does V6 have DI? The V6 use one coil pack that is located on the left side of front cylinder head. They very rarely go bad.
The plug wires from coil pack to each plug should be replaced at certain intervals and I recommend every 60K miles.
The crank shaft position sensor is located on the front of engine block, close to but below where the coil pack resides.
You might have a leaking fuel pressure regulator that funnels gasolin into the intake manifold through the vaccum hose after shut down.
The easiest way to check that is to run the car warm, shut it off and disconnect the vacuum hose from the back of FPR and look for gasolin dribble after 5-10 min.
The reason why the car start fine cold (if this is the fault) is that all the extra gasolin have dried up and disappeared and if not, the car needs all the extra gas it can get when cold so it doesn't matter that much if it gets a little bit extra from that leak.
I say since you admit to not know your way around the car that much it is best to leave the FPR to your indy. It is not really that difficult but it is possible to mess up the mounting flange for the FPR and if so, you need to replace the whole fuel injector supply line which is a lot more money and time.
