I was really hoping someone else would have done this already, so I would not have to reinvent the... errr, pulley. 5 years ago a couple people told me to just switch to Mustang pulleys at 1/2 the Saab price, but of course, I did not listen (no more than I listened when the same people said my car was subject to the same cold weather crankcase ventilation problems as the '97-98 model that was blowing head gaskets at the time).
See link below for a pulley I tried (did not fit). It might fit a 9-3 HOT 205 hp engine, but not the NG900. I plan to look into having it machined down to a size that will fit. It is a larger outer diameter, same 7/8 inch belt, and a standard (and replacable) 2603-type bearing.
Btw, my '96 SET seems to be one of the cars that needs a short belt less than 97 inches using the oem Saab grooved pulley. 97 works, barely, with the tensioner pulley too close for comfort to the upper idler.
