LONG MESSAGE (SORRY)
Hello, all -- sorry if this message is redundant (I performed a search, but the answers weren't clear). I drive a '94 900S 5-speed w/115K miles. I have noticed lately that occasionally when accelerating on the expressway, it seems like my car tries to lunge forward. Sometimes this happens when going into fifth gear; the other few times it has occurred is while accelerating from about 30mph to 60mph onto the expressway on-ramp. The car actually appears to buckle like I'm riding a horse, and then eventually smooths out. I replaced my upper radiator hose about a 45 days ago, and the problem seemed to go away, but it has returned. I also had a hard time getting the engine to engage a couple of days ago (took four attempts and then gunning the accelerator on the last try to get it to go). Ran fine until I got ready to get onto the expressway. Then the buckling thing started to happen -- almost like the engine was cutting off and starting back up, or if the gas wasn't making it to the engine. I am somewhat mechanically inclined, but no mechanic. I don't mind getting my hands dirty if the fix is relatively clear, but then again, I don't want to screw something up. From other posts, it looks like I should first check my plugs; then my DI Cassette. Okay, sorry if this sounds ignorant, but what is the proper procedure for doing this, and do I need any special tools? Not looking for excuses or sympathy, but I'm a currently unemployed female, and if doable, I'll try to fix this myself. But I really could use some help/direction. Thanks.
