I got the Bilstein HDs and I'm happy w/ them. If you go w/ Bilsteins, be *sure* to go with the HDs; there are some others (some sold on EBay, e.g.) and they are not "single valve". Apparently thats bad. Anybody else care to explain why ?
When I was looking into shocks, there were several reports of Konis leaking, which didn't thrill me. And I'm a cheap bast*rd, so I was sucked in by the promise of never having to change my shocks again -- Bilsteins HDs are supposed to be good for 100k mi.
As for performance, well, the HDs are *way* better than my 114k mi OEM shocks, at least the rear ones. (Haven't done the front yet.) Maybe that's faint praise for Bilstein vs. Koni, but I'm just saying that whichever one you choose, if your current shocks are old this *will* put a smile on your face. For me it was even better than adding the swaybar. And granted, there aren't a lot of potholes areound here, but I consider my ride to be very smooth. I'll see what happens when I tackle the front end...
p.s. I went w/ shox.com
Cheers,
Jeff
