Scroll down to the bottom for the quick answer:
Sorry to rant...but anyway:
Those around here who own Turbos tell us that we can't turbocharge our engines, and that we can't swap em out for other ones.
Well, they're right. Either method costs so much, you might as well buy a turbocharged 900 instead.
But fear not! We too can taste the power of Saab!...just not a Turbo saab. There are things we can do...albeit expensive (when compared to our turbo brothers) things. Still cheaper than an engine swap though.
You see, with their turbos, they can fit their MBCs and various other initials into their engines with minimum mods (intake, exhaust) and get 30HP (that might be a small exaggeration). We get to do the same (intake, exhaust), but then instead of just fitting initials to our engine, we get to port and polish, upgrade fuel delivery, etc...more expensive sure, but when you start zooming by stock turbos, you will be laughing.
Of course, they spent nothing more than they spent on the car, and you spent a cool couple of grand. But it is worth it. Oh yes, it is worth it!

Engine Swap and Turboing the NA900 are both economically unfeasable. It'd be cheaper to just buy a Turbo saab.
I have a NA900 like you, and I just bought a Fox exhaust. Will be fitting it at the end of the month. I'll be posting the results. Take care!
