Can you be more specific, for example missing/hesitating at any speed, or only at idle, or when you give it gas... was there a CEL? Are you sure the mechanic said too MUCH gas, not too little?
Too much gas would be unusual, too little gas, or too little air flow for the amount of gas, more common.
Fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump/filter, fuel injectors, DI casette, air pressure sensor, throttle position sensor, all help determine how much fuel ends up in the cylinder...
"some" Saab work could be like the mechanic who re-installed my DI casette with completely dry rubber boots (no dielectric grease at ALL), and guess what, my engine started missing at idle... never occurred to me to check for that until I had it off for another reason and saw how dry the boots were. Applied grease per instructions found here and in every manual... miracle cure.
