dead in the water: transmission?

Kind of a funny story... on my way to the airport, just after I pulled into long-term parking, my car made an ugly 'KER-CHUNK' sound and rolled to a stop. I got out, looked under only to find on the ground:
- torn off inner CV boot
- one big, shiny nut (size of a half-dollar)
- several small metal pin looking pieces, about 1 inch in length
- small puddle of black fluid, not sure if it's tranny fluid or oil or old broken donw grease.
The car no-go now, in any gear (fwd/reverse)...
I pushed it into a spot, and plan on having either towed home or sent to Planet Saab in SF.
Anyone with any idea on what it may be? I'm assuming the worse-case is the tranny decided to die, or maybe I'm lucky and it's only an inner axel joint?
Stranded at SFO,
joe.
