Shift linkage

I would suspect the shift linkage, because the gears you can't get into are the ones where you have to pull back on the shifter. A broken or stretched cable would probably affect all gears. I would try aligning the shift linkage first, there are lots of posts about that here, and instructions with pics on dip's web site (search for "linkage alignment"). After that, look for a broken bushing at the shift lever or at one of the gear rods.
The '94 has the same older style shifter as my '96. One bushing might have been already worn out, and when your g/f tried to get the car in gear after it stalled, it might have given it the last push.
You can also upgrade to the newer style linkage.
