About $100.00 for a diagnostic and leak check at my shop.
That will include evacuating and charging the system (if empty) with leak dye, oil and R134a and go over the pipes and fittings with a "black light" to check for leaks.
If the system is already full of R134a the fault tracing will include checking pressure while running and for fault codes and searching for electrical problems (if compressor is not engaging).
A/C system diagnostics can take many different ways depending on how it is not working when the car comes in.
In best case scenarios, the A/C system might only need a refill because it was several years since last one. All the hose fittings will sweat out a little bit R134a here and there over the years and finally it is to little to cool properly.
In that case it will be enough with the $100.00 initial charge.
