I drive 90 miles a day, roundtrip, from West side LA to Irvine. I did it in a 1995 900S and now I'm doing it in a 2000 9-3. I think I still would be doing it in the 1995 had I not been rearended last year. Up until then, I put about 80,000 miles on the 900S. The only problem I had was a clutch job at 50,000 miles. The accessory drive belt needed replacement at the 65,000 mile service. The original tires lasted through 75,000 until I upgraded to 16" wheels. These cars are probably better under these conditions than in the city. They are very comfortable for long commutes at fairly high speeds. We also have a late model Camry which I like but the seats hurt my back after about 30 minutes. You really should'nt have any problems with a Saab except for niggling issues such as squeaks and rattles. The 2000 9-3 has almost 20,000 miles on it and it continues to be low maintenance used in this manner. I did have a bad 3rd gear syncro that was replaced at 9,000 miles and a squeaky glove box that was just fixed this week.
