Dealer was able to set door locks on our 99 9-3 base convertible so both door locks unlock when the ignition key is pulled from the switch. Ostensibly for safety, the set-up where only the driver's door unlocks is, at minimum. frustrating and, at maximum, idiotic! Front passengers get very frustrated when the right front door is still locked after hearing the driver's door unlock - could possibly lead to damage if the passenger is not smart enough to stop pulling on the handle trying to open the door (it happened to me on another car where the passenger expected the door to unlock when pulling on the interior door handle).
Supposedly the newer TECH II software doesn't support the both doors unlock scenario, but the dealer was able to program it (no charge to me). The requested unlock mode may be part of the European settings - I'm not sure.
