I've read the posts that if you want to connect a CD changer to the Saab head unit it must be from Saab because the head unit communicates via some kind of data buss. But I have a question. If the head is manufactured by Clarion (or Pioneer - I've heard that too), wouldn't a changer from the same manufacturer (Clarion or Pioneer) be able to talk to it? It would not be logical for the manufacturer to make a proprietary configuration for Saab, a relatively small OEM. The Saab volumes are likely dwarfed by the aftermarket and any other OEM deals they have.
I would check with Crutchfield. My dealings with them have always been with pretty knowledgable and helpful people. I might also check with a local car stereo shop that deals with higher-end cars. They might have some ideas. I'd stay away from the Best Buy/Circuit City kind of places. They're good with straighforward kinda stuff but you run the risk of getting an answer from a sales rep who's really not sure of what he's saying.
Hope it helps.
