The way to be sure if it is the beam is to drive around with the seat down. If that's it, then try the following:
First, make sure the seat is latched properly to the body. Sometimes the seat latch can close, keeping the latch from engaging. Pull the seat down and check the latches to make sure they're open. If one isn't, unlatch it with the handle.
The "tick" is easily fixed with some felt pads (the little sticky backed round ones) that you can easily find at Home Depot. The tick is caused by one of the plastic cover's tabs popping out. Locate the problem tab by pushing on the cover and then put a felt pad under it.
If it isn't the tick, then try some felt on the seat latch itself. The seat beam does not touch the rest of the body at any other point. If that doesn't work, then the rattle may be within the beam itself, so the beam should be replaced.
Also check to see if the seat bottom is making the noise. The pins that hold the bottom are typically loose. I tied some zip ties around mine and that eliminated the noise completely.
Rattles are probably the worst thing to try to get fixed at the dealer. It took a few dedicated afternoons for me to fix mine, but it's worth the trouble. Good luck.
