I haven't really rung it out that much in the lower gears, however, at least on the base model, there is no mistaking this is a front driver. My Peugeot (with some serious mods) was just about as fast, but much more "pleasant" under acceleration. This car torque steers a bit, and the steering gets real light when I put the hammer down. Front drivers are set up exactly opposite of what a car should be to put the power down properly. With front struts, when you stand on the accelerator, the front picks up, the struts move inward, and the tires "pinch in" under the car, the effect is that you are riding on the outside edges of the tire, and that you are not getting a good contact patch for grip during acceleration. This is what makes the steering feel "light" .
Still, the 9-3 is definately fun, and can be a enjoyable car to drive, once you get used to it. I think eventually some stiffer springs will be in order to help tame that "unsettled" feel during acceleration. I think the SE may already be stiffer, and thus this might not be as pronounced on your car.
Enjoy !
