From me it's all positive. We've had two (2) dealer-necessary items for which the car can be faulted in 50K kilometers: (a) a broken heater control knob, which is common in the '99s (maybe they fixed this for 2000) and a somewhat vulnerable air damn waaaaaay under the car which is made of plastic and easily caught up on parking lot abutments.
Most people buy a car for design. If you've never owned an uniquely designed car before and you like attention, you'll like this car. The unique design will grow on you. Trust me on this.
We bought ours because (a) it's uniquely Euro-good looking (b) it's fast enough (c) it's got great utility (d) the engines last a very long time (e) it handles easily and safely in winter (d) it's extremely safe (never mind crash tests - check actuarial data (e) it's got comfy seats, good climate control, and a sunroof (e) it's a ball to drive, heavy steering and all and (f) it's reasonably economic to drive, especially on long trips, where it excels. But most of all we bought ours, I'd say, because for the money, it's hards to beat the COMBINATION of features you get with a Saab. So if you're like us, you'll consider everything weighted to your own priorities and needs. The price is negotiable.
