I grew up on Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province and one whose population triples in the summertime. Needless to say, there was lots of empty asphalt when the tourists went away.
Maxxxxing was done on the wide, flat, straight, sea level and seacoast roads on clear days. Since some of these roads led into beach peninsulas and were one-way in that sense, it was easy to chaeck the place out before doing the Dukes of Hazard stuff.
No more. Out west, here in Alberta, depsite our wide open spaces, there are relatively fewer roads and they are better-patrolled.
My best speed experience was the 100 mph+ ticket I picked up in Montana. There, the officer had me up to the patrol car and issued me a $5 ticket, payable by VISA, or in cash, for wasting fuel. Best ticket I ever got. Worth every nickel.........and I was guilty as Hell.
