You might fing it interesting that the last batch of 2001 9-3 SEs that I saw arrive at my dealer had 205/55 16" Pirelli Sport Veloce tires. I was surprised that they would change the size without warning...the dealer didn't even know about this! This probably happened because Pirelli does not make that tire in a 205/50 series.
You will not have any problems with the bigger tire plus...you will probably notice a slightly softer ride over rough road surfaces. Tirerack is definately the place to buy tires. I would take a look at the Yokohama AVSdb 205/55 16W or the Michelin 205/55 Pilot XGT H4 or Z4.
