Well, I realize it's early (less than 7k miles on the clock of my 2001
base 9-3), but I don't see any quality issues with this car. Could they
have made some better choices with switchgear aesthetics etc. which come
in for criticism on this Board? Yeah, probably. But when I consider that
I paid less than 25% more for this 9-3 versus our 1988 900S (each in then-
year dollars), and look at both the features AND the quality (i.e. trips
back to the dealer to get things adjusted or tweaked under warranty),
there is NO comparison, my experience with the 9-3 has been much better.
What I do like about the 9-3 is that it does retain much of the Saab "look"
that I've come to love over the years, including the hatch. I'm hopeful
the new 9-3 will be even better, but I'm happy that I bought this one.
