...for people to spend lots of time criticizing this or that, "the 9-3's
platform is old; it doesn't handle like a BMW," etc. ad nauseum.
There never was and there never will be a perfect car built by anyone,
that will be that way for everybody. Mechanical problems are one thing,
but even my bulletproof Toyota van has had mechanical problems, so if
a glitch occurs in my Saabs I'm not going to have a hissyfit over it,
especially when the C900 has over 166k miles on it. And the warranty
on the 9-3 isn't bad, nor do the guys at International Motors in Falls
Church VA (the dealer where I got the car) seem to be anything but
first class.
So what if the 9-3's platform is "obsolete" as the press guys are always
complaining about? So are the platforms on 99% of the cars out on the
road today. I'll bet that most Saab drivers who still own and love
their C900s, 99s, and 96/95/93s aren't finding that they're having any
less fun because the damned platform is old. Same way I felt about the
old Rabbit GTI I had in the 80s/90s.
Life is good, when you're driving a Saab. I smile whenever I get in any
one of my "obsolete" Swedish platforms.
