A Question????

Has anybody run into this problem? I have a 99 9-3 SE, last week, I noticed that whenever I turned my car on, the speedometer would only illuminate to 90 MPH....after I drove for a bit, it would eventually light up all the way.
So I take it to my friendly Saab dealer (NOT!), and they tell me that if your hit the top of the dash, the speedometer will light up right away (which it does...I tried that!) and that my warranty for "adjustments" is only for the first year. If I wanted to pay the dealer their standard rate of 89.00 per hour, they could take the entire dash off and find out EXACTLY what the problem is. The service department estimated the time to investigate would be 1 1/2 to 2 hours long.
I know that Saab is a car with a few "quirky" traits....but I'm not sure if I want to add to the "quirky" list "has to hit the dash for speedometer to illuminate all the way"......is this really considered an "adjustment" on the dealer's behalf or is this a true "defect" in the car?
Any help would be much appreciated!
