I'd be listening to the radio in both if you think that is a reason to pay more. My colleague has an SE, I have a base, and I must say I think the radio in both is hopeless. My pedestrian Chevy truck has a standard stereo that blows them both away. Now maybe if you like 6 speakers you should see if the base is feasible. It has the grills, but I don't know if the wiring is there, and I haven't had the courage to let the local stereo shop horse around with the door panels.

I didn't like the wood dash in the SE, I prefer the black. The wood thing seems to make the seatbelt light and the dash cluster look a bit sunken into the dash. I think the black looks cleaner. A matter of taste.

Power seats I can take or leave -- in the 5 years I've had my Tahoe I don't think I've ever moved the seat, and in the Saab I only move it forward or backward depending whether the wife has horsed with it, so the power idea is not of interest to me.

The ACC is probably neat, but the thing is a car, not a living room. Most of the time in the winter its below -10C and by the time it warms up I'm halfway to work, and in the summer I like the windows down and the sunroof open. My truck hasn't got it and I don't miss it.

Now the engine? A real toss up for me. I'd like the stronger engine just cause I sort of adhere to the more is better philosophy. And I have not driven my friend's SE so I have no basis to compare them. I guess you drive both and decide if the substantial extra bucks are worth it. I do envy that the mileage ratings in the SE are better until I remember the Natural Resources Canada rating for the SE is only a fraction of a litre per 100/km better in the SE. I find the base quite adequate on the highway and in the City, if I wanted to go real fast it wouldn't be an SE anyway. It might be a Viggen, but given my GM history, it would likely be a Corvette or something for about the same money -- trouble is my wife would tease me mercilessly.
