Do any of you have a recommendation as to what the best way to equip a 9-3 SE for winter is as far as tires and wheels go?
My dealer will store the spring/summer/fall tires (Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloces) on the rims for me in the fall and will also perform the changeover free of charge. Ditto for the spring when it is time to go back the other way. I do not want to get in the habit of mounting and unmounting tires on the stock rims as that definitely affects their ability to seal. I also do not want to drive the stock wheels in the snow/slush/ice, etc. that often accompanies upstate NY winters.
I thought a steel wheel (to hold up against pot holes) w/hub cap and a really good all season tire would be a good option... or possibly a Nokian Hakkapeliitta type of tire (friction based snow tire).
Thoughts? Any ideas as to where to go about purchasing these types of things? Thanks...
