Not to pick on dealers, but......

I generally don't patronize the quick lube places either.
On the other hand, bad things can happen anywhere.
I dropped off my Chevy Pick-up at the dealer a couple weeks ago for a PA State Inspection/Emmissions Test and had them do an oil change. I left the truck there in the morning, they gave me a free shuttle ride to the train, and I returned after work to pick it up.
After pulling out of the parking space at the dealership where the service folks had left my truck, I remembered I'd wanted some touch-up paint. So I backed up and pulled into another parking space by the parts department entrance. As luck would have it, it was the space immediately next to the one I'd just pulled out of a minute before. And what do I see in on the ground in that space I'd vacated a minute before? A big puddle of oil, that's what.
Getting down on my knees and looking under the truck, I noticed the dripping oil and found that the drain plug was so loose that it was ready to fall off. The idiots had never tightened it. I made them "push" my truck back into the service bay, drain the oil and refill it again. I aslo had the service manager sign my receipt with a statement indicating that they had given me the truck back with a loose drain plug and much of the oil drained out. Thank God I remembered the touch-up paint and returned so quickly. The engine had really only been running about a minute, maybe less. If I'd happily motored off down the road, I would not have been happy for long.
Mistakes can happen anywhere. We're all human. But buyer bewhere...no matter where you go.
