Long, but fitting for this thread.

This is a very interesting thread for me. This is my first post here as well, so please be gentle. I am a die hard BMW person (check out my email addy) and won't give it up. But I'm looking for a new daily driver, and the 9-3 Viggen sure is attractive (hardtop 3 door). Why not a BMW 330Ci if I'm such a bimmer nut, you ask? Well, I work for the Conglomoration that owns Saab, so I get a healthy price break =)
So just yesterday I was over at the local dealership and test drove a 5 door Viggen, just to get the feel. Here are my impressions. It drove very nicely at all speeds up to 100mph *grin*. It does have some torque-steer, but not as bad as I expected for that high of a torqueing engine. The pedal-box was VERY cramped though. And I have large feet, so I found this distracting. There is no way I can heel-and-toe this car like my BMW, but I do remember the BMW being a bit cramped when I first drove it as well. A bad selling point though, the drivers door lock was malfunctioning and I had to crawl in through the passenger door. There was also alot of body roll in turns compared to what I'm used to, but the car never lost its line.
Now for some questions. What is the general impression of the 9-3? What is with that split mirror on the passenger door? How is the service department at everyone else's Saab dealership? Are there any common problems on these particular cars? (For instance, on my 635, the control arm bushings fail all the time, so aftermarket is needed for any spirited driving)
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing everyone's honest input.
