The ECU's fuel cut pressure is a bit over 1BAR, somewhere over 15PSI. I don't know if the HO units or later production with higher output moved this fuel cut pressure.
The plugs get deposits while on boost, and these burn off while crusing. Note the soot at the tail pipe! The result is determined by driving style and your mix of city VS highway. Short trips would obviously be a problem. Saab actually switched to heat 6 for the NA market years ago.
For some plugs, deposits are determining the effective life of the plugs. For the expense of platinum plugs, you don't want to be fighting deposits. My commute is a bit over 40 miles with 10+ minutes of city driving at each end. Highway speeds are 75mph.
Deposits can be made worst if the injector spray pattern gets bad from injector deposits.
