It amazes me how everyone accepts this issue on the 99's. My 9-5 SE has been doing this since the beginning. It has been to the dealer 7 times, fueld pump and sensor has been replaced along with other parts. My problem starts with less than 1/2 a tank and saab customer service says to not let it get below that. This is a very expensive vehicle and my old college escort with 100,000 miles started better than this. Saab has admited this is a problem with the 99's but has been unable to fix it. The 2001 models start like a dream. My car has never started like the 2001. Don't try to fix it yourself, complain to Saab, keep taking it into the dealership to get it fixed. I expected this car to be better than an cheap car i have ever owned. Our situation is so bad we have decided to sue saab for breech of warranty under the federal lemon law act. I would never purchase a car that acted like this and i am sure if i tried to sell it no one would want the car.
