93 blown engine

Just thought I would see what some of you think about my situation I picked my 2000 93 up on monday from a dealership in CT. While they had the car they replaced the AC compressor, the ignition switch and wiper motor, in addition to doing a routine 5000 mile service. However, after driving roughly seven miles from the dealership the motor burnt up. Thus far the dealer and saab are taking responsibility, and have stated to me that they will replace the motor in its entirety. The service manager at the dealer has told me that the reason the motor expired was that the belt the factory put on the car was an inch to short. I am not a mechanic, perhaps somebody else has experienced this problem but I find it hard to believe since the vehicle is a year old and has over 17000 miles on it at this point that the belt would all of a sudden cause the motor to completely burn up. I would appreciate any comments, about this situation, and any ideas about whether or not I have any recourse at this point, and whether or not this situation could have damaged any other parts of the car.
Thanks for any suggestions
Peter
