> Not the best diesel engine,
Agreed. The PSAs are better (and probably VWs - but I've not driven one recently).

Are you talking about the vehicle or about the fuel? I agree a Saab 9-3TiD (base) is good value at about £15000, but your shouldn't give 'merkins the idea that diesel fuel is any cheaper than petrol (gas) - both around £3.50 per (UK) gallon - but you get much higher mpg.

Also a very good purchase for the private driver who wants Saab differentiation, looks, etc with as much per mile fuel costs.

out of juice.
By which time it's doing 90mph - as long as you remember to change gear.
> Good for getting away from the lights, but not much else.
Acceleration from stationary is actually a bit slower than the equivalent petrol, due to the need to change gear more to get up to a given speed. But it pulls like a train at anything about 40mph - and that's in fifth! Maybe you should try one...
> But SAAB has developed a V6 diesel engine with more power.
It's an Isuzu engine, and probably only for the bigger & heavier 9-5.
