Informal review on ITG air filter. . . Posted by ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ken) on Fri, 24 Aug 2001 10:27:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've had the filter now for about 15 days in my 2001 9-3 base. Instead of the cloth-type material as found on the KN series, the ITG uses a reticulated foam impregnated with oil. The oil is permanent and therefore, as the manufacturer states, does not need to be re-oiled.
Having both the Saab Sport Exhaust and the ITG filter in place, the turbo spools up so quickly that lag is not present. The guage finds its way to the red zone more often, too. I find that the TCS is engaging more often than before, so I just turn it off.
I haven't had a chance to dyno this setup, but I don't feel any significant increase in overall power. This probably due to the T7 managing the Air Mass Flow.
The noise increase is only noticeable at WOT, even then it's relatively quiet.
Next up >> suspension upgrade.
