Anyone else disappointed there's no 2002 Coupe?

When I first read about the 2002 9-3 information, which was from a European source, I was pretty excited because I thought I'd be able to get a 9-3 Coupe with the HOT engine and many of the goodies of the SE. But now I find there will be no 2002 Coupe at all for the USA (except for the Viggen). Not even the base model. While many/most other markets continue to have the Coupe available. This is really disappointing to me, since I hoped to get one during the last year. I figured I'd enjoy it till the new model was out for 3 years or so and then get a NG 9-3.
Has the coupe sold that poorly in America? Is that the reason for it being unavailable here? It's funny. My previous Saab ownership goes back to the heyday of the Classic 900, when nearly every one I'd see was a 2-door. Most of the Classic 900's I still see today tend to be 2-doors. The increased popularity of the 4-door didn't seem to take hold till the GM era NG 900 came along.
I really do not want a 4-door and do not feel I should pay good money, only to settle for something I don't really want. I don't need 4-doors and I just prefer the look of the coupe. And functionally, I like the coupe's longer door openings. Being taller, it makes it easier to get in and out, and I like being able to have the seat moved back without having the seat back at, or even behind, the "B" pillar, having to stare right into that "B" pillar when I turn my head.
When I e-mailed Saab to express my disappointment and the lack of a coupe for 2002, all I got in reply was that " we can not comment on future model availability"? Gee, thanks Saab. Great answer. So it looks as if I'll have to find a niced used coupe, wait and see when, andf if, the NG 9-3 will offer a coupe, or just buy something else.
