In all due respect there is no setting for "distance" that the alarm operates over. The ONLY things controlling the distance are the freshness of the batteries (which Robin checked) and the position of the internal antenna (which the dealer can check). The receiver antenna is under the center console back behind the ignition switch. It's a short little wire which might be getting interference from something else in that area and needs to be moved slightly. IT's the ONLY thing that can be adjusted.
