Before you go and buy the Saab touch up kit you should try less drastic (and easier) measures. First try some simple "scratch remover" polish. No I don't recommend that GS27 scratch remover (as seen on TV). The "white" scratch you see is just the clearcoat... This can be polished out so you will never know it happened.
The "good stuff" is Meguiars Swirl Remover #9. This is really gentle stuff which will not damage your finish. I'm continually amazed at what this stuff can do! I've used it on my mother's Mercedes (she's 72 and "parks by ear") and it it took out all the bumper scuffs and even the key scratches around the door lock!
As a LAST RESORT, if the scratch is too deep and especially if it goes down to the metal, you can try and use touch-up paint. Touching up a large scratch is NOT an easy task. I can assure you that the results will not be good.
If you take it to a professional paintless dent and scratch removal place where they can do a much better job blending it in... If it's a new car then why monkey around and make it look half-ass if you can pay a measly $100 or so to make it good as new.
Let us know the results!
