Don't ask me how they did it. I took my 2001 9-3 SE to fix some issues with the handsfree unit (Nokia). I wanted to get the automatic mute working. Wasn't really sure if it could be done. When I got the car back they had that working as well as the cell phone through the stereo speakers working. Couldn't be done I thought. Tried the Onstar, didn't work...so I thought. Removed the phone from the cradle and tried the onstar...worked. I can live with that. In fact , the Onstar does work with the phone in, just that they can hear me, but I can't hear them...close enough. All an all I am stisfied with the setup. Only other issue is that the ringer doesn't work unless the car is off. Doesn't really matter since the radio mutes when a call is coming in. For the times that the radio is off, I set the phone to auto answer. I get a beep before the call is connected. So it works in a roundabout sort of way. It sure beats the heck out of the Nokia setup. Probably not as good as the triad setup. Funny thing though, the ringer works when the car is off. Probably due to the Onstar powering down. Let me know what you guys think.
