Peripheral Electronics makes a number of adapters with built-in circuitry to connect aftermarket CD changers to OEM head units. While they make adapters for the most common models (Honda, Toyota, etc.), now that the Saab 9-3 has a number of GM parts...could it be that Peripheral might have solution?
This year they have introduced two new adapters for GM cars, the GMASX and GMKENX. Their compatability charts do not list Saab, but they do state they have not tested their adapters with all makes and models (and they say if you find a combination that works, to let them know and they will update their chart). These adapters do refer to connecting to pre-run cables in GM cars and the molex connector they describe does sound like the one in the Saab.
The trick, of course, is how to test this out without purchasing several products that may be useless for a Saab 9-3 owner. If anyone on this board has a friend who works in a car stereo installation business and could test these options, it could be a real help to all of us who would like another alternative to the expensive Saab changer.
