It is a plastic unit that hold a gauge, such as a turbocharger boost gauge at eye-level. The A-pillar is the front pillar (structural member)of the roof of your car. If you are sitting in the driver's seat and you look out the window, then look to your left, the "pillar" that comes down along the window (where the door is) is the a-pillar.
Mounting the pod is easy, but the gauge is a little more tricky.
