I always use 93 ION in mine. I think that translates to 98 RON but don't quote me on that.
The manual in the states recommends that grade of fuel for maximum performance. The T7 will adjust for lower grade fuels but you will not get maximum performance from the engine. It will retard timing and "turn down" the boost you get from the high output turbo if it senses pinging/knocking as a result of a lower octane fuel.
I have always used 93 in all of my cars... In the states there is a different "mixture" of cleaners and fuel injector lubricants in the higher grade fuel that are not in regular/standard unleaded. My assumption would be that this would be the case abroad as well. whether they require it or not and have never had a fuel-related breakdown or problem. I think it is worth the extra $ but I know some will disagree... I guess it all depends on how you drive, how much performance you want out of the car and how long you plan to keep it.
