They most definitely do build convertibles from the "ground up" in Uusikaupunki Finland. Yes, some subassemblies are shipped from Trollhatten Sweden (like seats, doors, electronics, etc) but they press sheet metal, weld, AND have a complete paint facility that is shared with the Boxster (but they share no colors). It's a first rate facility and you shouldn't feel cheated at all... In fact, I'm told that the Boxsters there are as good or better quality than the ones made in Germany.
Cars these days are built from components that are sourced all over the world. I noticed on the new Saab stickers that even 1% of the content is from the United States! (Gee, those must be the GM parts that some people think the new Saabs are full of... ;-)
