First thing to know is that your Saab will not get completely'broken-in' for about 8,000 - 10,000 miles. The mileage will continue to get better until then.
On my 1998 900SET 5-door automatic, I get about 18 MPG around town. This is for 100% city driving with lots of stop and go traffic and typically trips of less than 10 miles.
For straight 100% freeway use (sy Seattle to Portland or Vancouver, Canada, so around 120-150 mile freeway driving) I get 26-30 MPG. The 30 MPG is if I just set the cruise control for 70 MPH and sit back and do nothing, the 26 MPG is from passing a lot of trucks trafiic, and driving 80 MPH.
